Scoring Mr. RomeoScoring Mr. Romeo by A.M. Madden
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Scoring Mr. Romeo is Book 3 in the Mr. Wrong Series but is easily a stand alone.

Who needs to use a dating site when you have a darling little boy that will take care of the match making for you. Though I'm sure Luca would of preferred not to of had a soccer ball hit him in the face.

Luca is a seriously hot italian man who does have a past of one night stands that has no plans on changing his relationship status until he meets Mikey's (the boy who hit him in the face with the ball) mom, Sabrina. He fell for both mom and son.

Sabrina is a widowed young lady who is trying to move on with her life. She is a hairdresser and can't accept that someone like Luca could really want an actual relationship with her. Luca breaks out all the stops to convince her.

The interactions between Luca and Mikey just warm your heart. It takes quite a man to love a little boy that is not his and treat him as his own. That right there is enough to make a woman swoon.

This story is so well written that it just seems so real. The bantering between Luca and Sabrina had me laughing out loud. Cassie and Luca prove that men and woman can be just friends. I was visibly upset when Luca and Sabrina had a breakup.

I absolutely loved this book! I wish Luca was real as I'd want him as my kids next stepdad.

The Beau & the Belle by R.S. Grey

The Beau & the BelleThe Beau & the Belle by R.S. Grey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, that was so good!
I hate it when I say in a review that this is the best book I have read from this author because it changes every time I read the next release! But this is the best book I have read from RS Grey to date.

Lauren starts out being a sweet and innocent teen of 17 years old having a huge crush on Beau. He is 8 years her senior, so he knows nothing can come about between them. Doesn't stop him from not only finding her attractive but a beautiful person on all counts. Except.... she might be a little sensitive and earnest - which comes across as endearing. The bond of the friendship that is forming is strong and only a hurricane can divide them.

Fast forward 10 years and Lauren is back in New Orleans. She is older and wiser but still holds that bewitching quality that captivated Beau all those years ago, and she is still impetuous. Her younger self may have jumped into Beau's arms straight away, but she is not going to waltz into something without a clear head. Which makes for a dreamy and funny slow burn.

This novel is told in dual POV but Beau is not much of a talker. He is an action man, and OMGosh when he does say things to Lauren..... swoon...... he had me transfixed as much as she was. His confession about how long he had feelings for her was delectable. Lauren is hilarious. So many funny lines between her and Beau but my favourite might be the phone messages, or the liquor / lick her line, that cracked me up too. I was engrossed with the whole book and was saddened when it was finished. Especially with no epilogue, I love an epilogue. My only hope is that maybe the bestie, Rose, is getting her own book and we will hear more about Beau and Lauren because they are a couple I just adored.

The Coaching Hours by Sara Ney

REVIEWED BY

The Coaching Hours (How to Date a Douchebag, #4)The Coaching Hours by Sara Ney
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’ve been in a HUGE book slump. For what feels like months-but it looks like all I needed was a book about douchebags to cure me. But, in this case, there were no actual douchebags to be had. I’m actually shocked. Completely and utterly shocked. This book didn’t live up to its name and I think that’s a good thing.

Elliot and Anabelle are an unlikely duo. Right from the beginning of this book I didn’t see it coming. Didn’t see “them” coming. There was some back and forth with different boys, ones totally unworthy of lovely Ana-banana, and then she hit the jackpot. Elliot was amazing. Not DOUCHY at all. He and Anabelle hit it off right away and the rest is history as they say...or was it?

This book was a little choppy. Not going to lie. I loved the characters, even Rex, but I felt a bit jostled and it was almost as if Ney had a few ideas for this book and mixed them all together. Did it work out for me in the end? Yes. Was it her best? No. We’re these my two favourite mains? Yes! Was there something missing that I cannot pinpoint? Yes. Unfortunately, yes.

I did get pretty invested in the story because I was able to connect with Ana on a personal level. However, I still fee like these two young kids rushed into life too quickly-but I guess that’s how the story goes sometimes.

Ney did do a fabulous job getting me emotionally attached. She pulls on the readers heartstrings and she had the moves to back it up! I’m glad the series is over, and happy it ended on the note it did. I feel satisfied with the outcome and had a fun time reading How To Date A Douchebag, THE COACHING HOURS.

I must add, my absolute favourite parts of this book were the hilarious and totally inappropriate chapter previews. Just the BEST.

Living Out Loud by Staci Hart

REVIEWED BY

Living Out Loud (Austen, #3)Living Out Loud by Staci Hart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5*'s

I am really getting a kick out of this series. I love the play on them relating to the Jane Austen books. I feel it is so much more that one story and it takes me on a different tangent and seeing these characters in both worlds.

This book was so sweet and mainly due to Annie because she is adorable. She is young and naive but so precious and not because she is ill - gosh no - she is strong in more ways despite of it. The family connection is solid but my heart aches for their loss and sadness. Although Annie is the one that will keep them going.

Greg - Oh Greg! What a Champ! What he had to endure, oh my heart! I so wanted to hug him and ease his pain. I completely understand why Annie fell for Will. We have these book boyfriends and then if a real life guy comes along and says all the right things, I'd fall for him too. Not that Greg isn't BBF material because ..... um yes he is! He'd slay a dragon for his Annie, and he did just that with Will. My only grievance is I wanted Will to receive more justice and I didn't believe his apology - it felt out of character and unbelievable. I am hoping that Aunt Susan will be doing some social justice showcasing Will's personality.

I am not a person who buys a book solely on their covers but OMG Staci's are the best! I love them. Can not wait to see Elle's cover and read her adventure.

Hidden Seams by Alessandra Torre

REVIEWED BY
Micky Barnard

Hidden SeamsHidden Seams by Alessandra Torre
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Torre writes in multiple genres and I thought this was one of her quick, hot contemporary romances and it was, but with unusual circumstances and characterisation that set it apart a little from her others in this genre. As a result of this twist on circumstances, I enjoyed this more than I expected, especially the first 70% of the book.

HIDDEN SEAMS explores family separated, searching and found alongside a connection that just shouldn’t ‘be’. Marco is an impossibly beautiful man and therefore untouchable. He was arrogant and superior with little to recommend him on the surface. Yet, he drew me in, there was more to find out about him.

“That strong voice, the deep growl in the tones....it is the sort of voice you could drizzle over ice cream and binge on for hours.”

Avery was a semi-criminal and creative entrepreneur with an ethic at the centre. She had buckets of energy and determination that I couldn’t do anything but like her. She weakened in her resolve as the book progressed towards its end, but I do acknowledge how attraction and connection can weaken anyone’s purpose and path.

The story was again unusual which moves this book from just a good, easy read into something better. Alessandra Torre has such a talent for turning your preconceptions on their head. The heat was well written as ever and didn’t overwhelm the story, only complimented it. The last 30% of the story was a little weaker and convenient but I still enjoyed this overall.

This book is a complete standalone and not connected to Love in Lingerie as both the title and cover might suggest, so you can just jump into this engaging read.

I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

I Wanna Text You Up by Teagan Hunter

REVIEWED BY
Monique Cashmere

I Wanna Text You UpI Wanna Text You Up by Teagan Hunter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I had high expectations when I saw this book was going to be released. I mean, have you read Let’s Get Textual? Yes, then I’m sure you did too. If not, jump on that baby now! My point is I’m extremely happy with I Wanna Text You Up and here’s why. I’m a huge rom-com fan, and even though the humor part was slightly less than LGT, there was awesome banter. Zoe and Caleb get to know each other on a deeper level with their texts as room mates, and their texting is so flirty. Dare I say it....... flexting! For this to work, and work well, you need it to be whimsy with a bit of jest, some wisecracks and plenty of sarcasm. I feel Hunter knows her stuff, she is excellent with the banter.

Now let’s discuss the characters. Zoe is the ultimate best friend. She is also a great roomie, just don’t ask her to cook dinner. She comes from a loving background and this helps her be a compassionate friend/girlfriend. And if you are good, she will bake for you! Top of Caleb’s list is Zoe’s cookies, and I mean the bake goods variety. He is a hard working senior trying to keep his head above water while juggling 5 things at once. He is out to prove he can make it from a trailer park if you set your mind to it, even if certain people want to keep you back. I loved this about him. He always wanted to do what’s right, even if it made his life more difficult. That’s a quality I admire.

I enjoyed the inescapable build up with this pair. I feel this made it more authentic and a stronger bond between them. I think the ending was a little rushed for me. Maybe it was me reading too quickly or wanting to know more about them but it was over before I was ready to give them up. Is this a bad thing, no - always leaving them wanting as they say.

I Wanna Text You Up by Teagan Hunter

REVIEWED BY
Melinda Lazar

I Wanna Text You UpI Wanna Text You Up by Teagan Hunter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I Wanna Text You Up by Teagan Hunter

This is only the second book written by Hunter that I’ve read and I quite enjoyed it. Considering the previous book I’d absolutely devoured was Let’s Get Textual, I was expecting much of the same kind of humor and romance. Butttttt I didn’t get that here and I’ll explain why.

The romance and relationship progression in I Wanna Text You Up is spot-on. Given that Zoe finds herself interested in and developing feelings for her best-friend and ex-roomies ex-boyfriend, she had to make some decisions and they were not made lightly. I love that Hunter acknowledged the difficulty Zoe would have had in that circumstance and did not simply rush her into a relationship with Caleb simply to speed the story along. Zoe is an ideal heroine and that was a fact I was well aware of having read LGT: she’s a strong character with a huge heart, an amazing friend, and has a delightful sense of smart-assery and humor. I was also quite fond of Caleb: he’s a real sweetheart, has a strong sense of loyalty, and can banter with the best of them. Zoe and Caleb were definitely made for each other - they complemented each other well and each gave as good as they got. I particularly enjoyed the text exchanges because they were witty but also because it gave us a bit more of Caleb’s thoughts.

Overall, a good, solid read although low on the comedy aspect in my opinion.
