The Wives by Tarryn Fisher

REVIEWED BY

The WivesThe Wives by Tarryn Fisher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Never saw it coming.

Tarryn Fisher is known for her twist and surprise turns. Be it romance, fantasy or thriller, she is always keeping me on my toes. The Wives, is no exception.

I consistently read a book a day or every other at minimum. I didn’t read anything for days after The Wives just processing. This author makes you think. You don’t read her work and think “that was nice, what is next.” You reflect. You analyze. You assess.

Fisher is a master at messing with your mind. I have read some reviews, and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but several didn’t finish the book because they thought Thursday was weak or Seth was manipulative. What a grand experience they missed.

Both of those opinions could be true.....or they could have been smoke and mirrors.

For a truly enthralling experience, give The Wives a read. This is one book that won’t leave me for a good long time.

Code 11-KDP SWAT Box Set

Code 11- KPD SWAT Box SetCode 11- KPD SWAT Box Set by Lani Lynn Vale
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Center Mass is Luke and Reese's story

Nothing is more important to Luke than his little girl. He meets the new school nurse, Reese, when he goes into the school to pick up his daughter. There is instant chemistry there. They are both leery because of their past and because they both have little girls to consider. Just when it seems life is going their way Reese takes an unexpected curve. Luke shows her through his actions just what a stand-up guy he is. He's the true alpha male. I loved the cars in this book.

Double Tap is Nico & Georgia

Nico and Georgia are reconnecting again after many years apart. Their love connection is one that most people can only dream of. As I read along their story had my emotions all over the place. They went through heartbreak. Georgia came through a tough, determined young lady. Nico turned into himself, becoming a very quiet person. Together they are just awesome!

Bang Switch

Memphis, who is new to her apartment building, is outside taking her dog when she meets up with another tenant. She was very surprised when they walked back in together and she realized he lived right next door and he and his 'guests' were responsible for her lack of sleep. This book has some great laugh out loud moments in it. Downy fights against his attraction for Memphis because of their age difference but isn't much of a hold out when he realizes she's feeling the attraction too. The secondary characters add another layer of depth and hilarity to this book. Seriously, they took down a wall. That has to be a record. I can just visualize everyone's expression when that wall came down. Mocha, Downy's K9 and their interaction is a great dynamic to this book.

Execution Style

Miller, a member of the SWAT team, witnesses first hand the trauma/violation that Mercy was dealt be her former boyfriend. She pretty much latches onto him afterward. From that day forward Miller is Mercy's rock. She's also a fighter and by the end of the book, she's fighting not only to regain herself but to have a future that included Miller. What happened to Mercy was absolutely gut-wrenching.

Charlie Foxtrot is Foster and Blake

Foster has to be one of my old-time favorites from LLV books. Losing part of his leg isn't going to stop him. He just overcomes and keeps ongoing. Blake is Foster's equal in powering threw whatever life has thrown at her. I don't think there's anything better than when someone who is such a jerk gets theirs in the end. In this case, it's Blake's ex. It made me fist bump the air. This book had me crying ugly tears with sadness and at a different part of the book with happiness for Foster and Blake. These two made the best of what life handed them and came out on top.

Kill Shot

Barrett became a father at a very young age. With the help of his parents we were still able to honor commitment to Navy Seal's but then left the Seal's to return home to raise his daughter and joined the SWAT Team. He meets Lennox, a physician's assistant due to an injury. Their banter was great. It didn't take long for their intense chemistry to break through and they agreed to friends with benefits relationship. When that started to develop into something deeper then Lennox's stalker reappeared and Barrett's crazy ex=girlfriend, who is also the mother of his child shows back up in the picture causing drama. When the connection between Lexxon's stalker and Barrett's ex is realized its mouth dropping. I loved the relationship that is developing between Lennox and Reagan (Barrett's daughter). Their interactions are so sweet and heartwarming.

Coupe De Grace is Michael and Nikki

This is the story I couldn't wait to read. Through all the rest of the stories you get glimpses into Michael. You also get the feeling that he has very deep feelings for Nikki but for some unknown reason is distancing himself from her. When Nikki and Michael reconnect months later he finally opens up to Nikki and explains why he doesn't want 'his' own children. He's not against children. Just doesn't want any child to have the difficulties he had/has grown through life. I don't know how Michael kept himself from telling his family to take a flying leap when it came to dealing with his ex Joslin. That was just so wrong. The only disappointment in this book was that I was really hoping karma would come back and bit Joslin really hard.

I loved reading the KPD Swat Box set. The books run seamlessly one book to the next. It was also great from a reader's standpoint to read the books in a series back to back without having to wait for the next book in the series to come out. This series has my favorite type of books to read...suspense, romance, some humor, wonderful banter between characters and a whole lot of hotness.

Audition by Skye Warren

REVIEWED BY
Becky Cox

AuditionAudition by Skye Warren
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have enjoyed Skye Warren's other books and was looking forward to this one. I liked the story overall. Warren is a skilled writer and weaves a good story line. I know there is a huge majority that loved this story. It just fell a tad short for me.

While I enjoyed the characters and the basis for the story I spent a lot of time confused. Multiple characters with no back story. Switching time frames and characters POV. Events happened out of thin air that made no sense to me.

Audition has a hot North brother in it so you know there is going to be some frustration and angst, as well as, some hot sexy times. ;-) You will get all three in this book.

Happy reading.

Asking For a Friend by Lauren Blakely

Asking For a Friend (Boyfriend Material Book 1)Asking For a Friend by Lauren Blakely
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Asking For a Friend by Lauren Blakely

Asking For a Friend is the first book in Lauren Blakely’s new and aptly named series, Boyfriend Material. It’s the story of Amy and Linc who both work in publishing and have both, for reasons of their own, sworn of relationships - particularly inter-office ones. As you can imagine, they have plenty in common and that leads to so much fantastic conversation and banter that you can all but see the attraction flying off the page. This all comes to a head when Amy signs her bestie up to a dating app and starts getting feelings for the person she’s screening.

This book was great! It was fun, flirty, and sexy while peppered with wonderful book and movie references. Amy and Linc are my kind of people, in every way and their story is one I especially enjoyed. The side characters only enhanced this story and I look forward to reading their books down the track.

*I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

The Virgin Gift by Lauren Blakely

REVIEWED BY
Melinda Lazar

The Virgin GiftThe Virgin Gift by Lauren Blakely
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Virgin Gift by Lauren Blakely

The Virgin Gift is the second story in Blakely’s after-dark series of super-steamy novellas and is the story of producer Adam and his best friend, boudoir photographer Nina who happens to be the virgin in this story. But Nina is not your average virgin. In fact, she has quite an extensive list of fantasies and when Adam sees the list, he’s only too happy to help Nina fulfill every single one and then some.

This is a quick, sexy read and satisfies in so many ways. Adam and Nina started out as friends and the progression to more seemed natural. There was a great chemistry between them and I loved that although she was a virgin for very good reasons, Nina wasn’t shy about vocalizing her desires. Great characters and I love the friendship group. I particularly loved the additional chapter thrown in.

*I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.
