The Decadent Gift by Lauren Blakely

I’ve been so eager for Kate and Jake’s book since I read The Engagement Gift - the first of the After Dark series - a few months ago. I expected something that sizzled with chemistry, provided delicious banter, and was underlined with friendship and family. I got all of that and more with The Decadent Gift.

Jake and Kate have been friends for a while now and their friendship group is well- intertwined. The last few months of flirtation and innuendo have had Kate seeing Jake in a new light and when she needs help with research for an important work assignment, he’s the first person to come to mind - and that’s when things get really exciting. Neither of these characters are interested in anything remotely serious - just a simple, no strings attached weekend with a side serving of kink. Sounds easy enough, right?

This was a great, sexy book featuring many a matchmaker! The chemistry between Jake and Kate was there from The Engagement Gift and only got more intense in this book. That wasn’t all though. There was still fun banter, vulnerable moments, and plenty of mutual respect. All things that tick all the boxes for me. I enjoyed the book and was excited to learn there’ll be more books in this After Dark series. I also have to say that the last few chapters were an absolute treat and will definitely be going back to reread those.

*I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

it was amazing

I could not wait for this story to hit my kindle. I loved the Alexa duet. This story was about an unconventional relationship. A threesome between twin sisters Becca, Jessa and Jeremy. They have been together for years but now there is a shift in their relationships. The story is full of surprises, friendship, support, love, understanding and compassion. The opening scenes are smoking hot and sets the mood of the story. I thought I knew how the story was going to progress but I was thrown for a loop. I felt for Becca for all she goes through in the story but the ending was incredible and heartfelt.

One Night Stand-In (Boyfriend Material #3)One Night Stand-In by Lauren Blakely

One Night Stand-In by Lauren Blakely

One Night Stand-In is the much-awaited third book in the Boyfriend Material series which follows three best friends. It’s the story of Lola and her love to hate/hate to love, not quite ex, Lucas that we’ve heard about in the previous books where he was mentioned with more than a little venom and bitterness!

Years ago in college, Lucas and Lola were friends - very good friends - and in the span of a weekend, it all changed. They exchanged kisses and made plans which Lucas simply didn’t turn up for until days later and without an explanation or more importantly, an apology. So, of course, Lola has avoided him as much as possible since!

Unfortunately for the both of them, they each have a younger sibling they’re inordinately fond of who are in love with each other. As Lucas and Lola are like pseudo parents to their respective younger sibling, they swallow their misgivings (just a little) to join forces and go on a scavenger hunt to retrieve the belongings that have been spread across the city by a very interesting landlord.

This book was a lot of fun and a great second chance romance. These two falling back in love was really special as was their willingness to go above and beyond for their siblings. I really loved the effort put in by the landlord and almost feel like he deserves a book of his own! All in all, a great read with plenty of heat, heart, and banter.

*I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.
