The evolution of Ivy: poison by Lauren Campbell
I'm sorry to say that this book didn't appeal to me in any way. I couldn't relate to the characters and I had a very hard time with the subject matter. Complete and utter manipulation in the most basic sense of the word, as well as shear evil and poison. The theme throughout was so dark and morose that I couldn't get into the story or be invested in it. I'm quite saddened at how rough everyone's life is. Lies, betrayal, cheating, are just a few of the events that occurred during this book. Ivy/Emily, Brooks, Eliza and Deacon live in a very horrific world where no one is genuine or truthful in any way.
"At least I'm sane enough to know if he did find out, he'd probably think I was a special breed of psycho unicorn, and he'd never talk to me again."
The writing read quite well, and there was good character development-even though the story wasn't my jam, Campbell still worked really hard creating her crew.
I probably wouldn't pick up another book in this genre again, but for those who like this sort of thing-perhaps this is right for you!
Received ARC in exchange for an honest review
