He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not by Christina Cole

REVIEWED BY Tina Shobe

This is the 3rd book in the series but easily could stand on it's own. It's a historical romance dated in 1879. Emily Sue Phillips has been gone for 3 months attending Miss Brundage's Female Academy to get her teaching credentials. While she was there she got a letter from Benjamin Brooks, her sweetheart of several years telling her to stay at school, not to come home. She comes home anyway for the holidays and Ben makes it very clear he wants nothing more to do with her, which upsets and confuses her. Ben is only telling her this in an attempt to keep her safe. After the holidays she does go back to school, ends up breaking curfew and getting expelled. She comes back home to her family and gets a job helping take care of the Henderson kids. Where Ben is also working. Something is very wrong on the Henderson Place and Tom Henderson had hired Ben not only as a worker but to help him find out what is going on. In the middle of all this Ben's dad is let out of Prison, which adds a twist to everything. There is old rumors that there is gold hidden on the Henderson land. The intrigue kept me hooked until the very end. Loved this book.
