It's bittersweet to be finishing the Marked Men journey because I could read about more characters. The sweet is definitely getting to Asa. The cover certainly inspires but it's the words that seal the deal.
Asa believes that he is bad to the bone despite his reformed life. His brush with death that we read about in Jet, left him with a conscience and he can't forget the misdeeds of the past. Asa does not feel worthy to be part of the Marked family. Royal is the sassy cop from Nash's story and she's making a play for Asa full pelt. Royal is reeling from a work incident that has scarred her and Asa turns the tables as he bails her out of her bad behaviour. These two have sparks. The characters and scenes between them are great and there's a twist along the way.
One of the wonderful things about this book is the snapshots of the rest of the Marked crew. It doesn't feel convenient and it's definitely fulfilling to see their lives develop. Sigh. I can't wait for Jay Crownover's next series.
