4.5 stars

This book was an intense read with difficult subject matter concerning abuse. Emery/Emma/Emily/Erika is on the run; damaged, wounded and feeling worthless. Em has left behind her younger sister which is a risk but she could not stay at home another day. Em doesn't share anything of herself with the people she meets. In fact, she keeps people at a distance but both Noah and Tim break through some of her walls at different times in her life.

Some portions of the storyline are difficult to read in terms of the subject matter but those parts are small and feel appropriate in their believability and realism. The characters are well developed and RL Griffin makes the sexual relationships that develop not only acceptable but full of tension and enjoyable to read about. I admire the author's ability to tackle this subject, my only criticism would be the occasional jump in the timeline that took a little time to grasp.

This book was provided by the publisher in return for an honest review.
