The Vixen and the Vet by Katy Regnery

The Vixen and the VetThe Vixen and the Vet by Katy Regnery
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was the perfect 'lose yourself for a weekend' book. Mirrored a little on beauty and the beast, it's a great, satisfying read.

Asher Lee is the town enigma, a disfigured hermit. He returned to Danvers eight years ago after significant injury from an IED in Afghanistan where he lost an arm and half his face. Savannah has returned to her home town with her pride hurt after being fired from her job as a reporter for a NY newspaper. What she needs is a human interest story, a good one. Savannah approaches Asher for an interview to tell his story. Asher has been starved of human contact and touch (apart from his housekeeper) for so long that his reluctance, he agrees.

This is not just another injured soldier story, the characters are complex and intriguing. Asher's disfigurement was handled well and what seemed to be realistically. The story has depth and I devoured it over a couple of days. Would highly recommend this book for an 'escape it all' read.
