Drunk Dial by Penelope Ward

REVIEWED BY Isa Jones

Drunk DialDrunk Dial by Penelope Ward
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Have you ever done something on impulse particularly after a drunken night? Yes, I know right, I think most people, like I did, would say YES!
Well this is exactly what happens to the heroine of this latest book by Penelope Ward.

I loved the character of Rana Saloomi. She is your typical girl next door who is struggling to make rent, has a crazy roommate, a bit of an over conservative Dad and has had her fair share of heartbreak and sorrow in her life.

Growing up was hard living as the daughter of "the help" in the house of Landon Roderick. As far as friendships go, theirs was one that was meant to withstand the test of time, everything was happy as long as she had Landon and he made her childhood a memorable one. Then one day Rana found herself having to leave behind the life she had learnt to love and particularly Landon. The saddest part was never saying goodbye.

Fast forward 13 years and after a long night at her belly dancing job and a little too much wine, Rana finds herself reminiscing of the past and the boy who stole her heart. Liquid courage drives her to search Landon and leaving him an awkward message filled with pent-up frustrations and blubbering unanswered questions. The last thing she expects was for Landon to call back, or for him to admit several unspoken truths which will change so many things about her perception of her life.

What I loved about this book was that although Penelope could have made it fairly predictable, she threw several curve balls at us which provided readers with a fresher intake on the topic thus giving it an edgier and more heartfelt romance.
For all lovers of a good friends to lover story with a few surprises along the way, this is definitely the book for you!.

Received an ARC from the author in exchange of an honest review.
