Keeper by Amy Daws
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Amy Daws is MY queen of British Rom-Coms.
Keeper is the 3rd book in the Harris Brothers Series. Although not officially as series as such, Challenge and Endurance tells the tale of Camden and Tanner respectively. Fans of the stories have been patiently waiting for the youngest brother, Booker to have his own story and Amy has delivered this to her expecting fans who were almost waiting to hear the next premiership transfer LOL.
I devoured this book in (almost) one go. I loved how Amy can completely grab the reader's attention and just transport you into a world of romance with a bit of laughs along the way.
Poppy and Booker have been friends since childhood. Booker had found Poppy at a point in his life when the loss of the person who he loved the most, devastated his whole family and altered life as he once knew it. From that first moment, they become inseparable. As they grew so did their bond sharing many laughters and sorrows along the way. Booker, coming from a long legacy of footballers, completely dedicates all his free time and devotion into the magical world of football, for him this is where he is always happy, is what he has known all his life. Having three brothers who are also players is not easy, and as a goalkeeper the attention is always on him. He always has Poppy to ground him, to cheer on him and to support him. Until one day he doesn't.
Sadly there is always one person that discovers feelings which once weren't there. Poppy can't really look at Booker with the same innocent eyes and after having her heart broken she decides to leave her life behind and run to Germany. An opportunity brings her back after several years away, placing her in Booker's path.
Harris Brothers never give up. They never quit, and always get what they want. So when Booker hears his Poppy is back he seizes the opportunity to reacquaint with his long lost childhood friend. However, when he sees her standing outside his flat he realises, the game of football is child's play compared to the game of Love.
When I finished this story I felt like screaming and cheering and just celebrate this wonderful book. I am still completely blown away by the attention to detail which Amy puts into her writing particularly talking in terms of British slang. Are you sure you aren't in London Amy?? I am sure you hide in Bethnal Green. =).
Bloody Brilliant story! Please Amy can I have some more??
