Cinder: Dark Fairy Tale Erotica by Syn RootMy rating: 2 of 5 stars
I've never read anything by Syn Root before. This genre, whatever you may call it, is not something I'm usually drawn too. Cinder was nothing I thought it would be. I didn't connect with any of the characters and I was often confused about the plot and where the story was going. I did think the writing was decent, and I felt the sense that Root really liked writing it, but there was very little dialogue and the internal conversations of the main character, Fox were rather choppy and all over the place. The chapter intros were really odd and the editing requires some assistance but I do appreciate the authors choice in sticking with what she likes. There was a good sense of the theme throughout the whole book. I just wish I was able to jive with it more.
