Retribution (The Protectors #3) by Sloane Kennedy
Retribution by Sloane Kennedy
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Retribution may refer to:
Punishment
Retributive justice, a theory of justice that considers proportionate punishment an acceptable response to crime
Divine retribution: retributive justice in a religious context
Revenge, a harmful action against a person or group in response to a grievance
Sloane Kennedy has delighted her readers with another emotional masterpiece.
Fans of the series can finally get their hands in the anticipated 3rd instalment of The Protectors Series. Each book gives you a small glimpse of the next character that would grace our kindles and I have to say I was desperate to read Hawke's full story.
After loosing all that was dear to him on a split of a second, Hawke swears to avenge those he loved. Scared not only physically but emotionally, he promises No to rest until finding those who destroyed him. And now he is the closest he has ever been to achieving his ultimate goal.
Tate has been on the run for as long as he can remember. Not only from those who have caused so much damage and physical and emotional pain, but ultimately from who he truly is. He is not only responsible from his safety but he knows he needs to protect the only pure and true person that has ever mattered, his son Matty.
When Hawke threatens to hurt the only good thing in Tate's life, he does the only thing he knows what to do well, he runs. Unfortunately for Tate, Hawke's determination is what fuels and drives to always get his mark, in this case Tate. Circumstances push Tate to put all his trust in the only man who can not only destroy all that matters to him, but who can also shatter his heart. Hawke ulterior motives change in a flash, and after spending time in Tate's company he realises that perhaps life has given him a chance to Love again, to feel again and to have it all again, but in order to have it all he must deal with the ghosts of his past, he must learn to forgive and himself and get his head around loving a man.
This story was emotional to the core. Tate is such a beautiful and lovable character and Sloane brought him to life through the pages of this book. I felt every emotion and if I may confess shed a tear or two. I think when a book moves you and makes you feel what the characters are going through it’s only a sign of how incredible it is.
In turn, Hawke's anger and suffering is devastating and you can feel the pain of his loss. However, lets not forget that this is also a romance story and Sloane has done what she does best, gifted us with passion aplenty and incredibly hot encounters between the leads.
Another formidable book deserving of the Bestseller status. I am ready for Mav and Eli next, PLEEAASEE!!
