Matchmakers: A Shifting Isles Trilogy by G.R. Lyons
REVIEWED BY Isa Jones
Matchmakers: A Shifting Isles Trilogy by G.R. Lyons
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is the first Book(s) I have read from this author and I was pleasantly surprised.
After a little misunderstanding regarding the setting of the stories the Author was kind enough to answer my doubts and I was able to submerge into the stories.
So in short this 3 books are now in one perfect package for all the readers pleasure.
All stories take place in a different world, and although this is entirely the Author choice I personally don't think this has a particular impact to any of the stories, I think the plots where solid and original, the dialogues were engaging and well delivered and the steamy scenes had the perfect amount of descriptive making each scorchingly hot so to me they could have been as well based in this world, as always this is just my humble opinion.
3 stories that are somehow interconnected, the one common factor, MATCHMAKERS a gay nightclub.
In the first book, 2nd CHANCES, we read abut hunky porn star Remy Dawes who in spite of seemingly being living every 19 year old idyllic life of sex, partying and money, the only dream he has ever had is to have someone who loves him and accepts him for who he is without a care about what he does. Enters, Chance Whitaker, a 35 year old who after a terrible line of bad relationships has sworn off young guys and relationships altogether, until a long lost friend convinces him to give love a 2nd chance.
In 2nd DRAFTS we get introduced to writer, Shain Ahren, who after a one night encounter he hasn't been able to move forward and forget the man who changed him that year ago, he is happy with the one night stands and sticks to his comfortable routine.
One of my favourite characters of this story was painter, Elliden Crawford, he is such a beautiful character and you can't help but feel for him, having born with a genetic condition he depends on pills to control some of the effects of his illness, not only that but he sees and is able to communicate with spirits which makes it even more complicated to find someone who can accept him, and nobody who compares to that man he met at matchmakers one year ago. When Shain's and Elliden's paths cross the two men come face to face with the realisation that perhaps what they have long desire is within their reach.
The last story, 2nd PLACE, is about matchmaker club owner, Danny Berringer who after cheating on his boyfriend, Bryan, has had a life of regret and has therefore tried to match every single couple with the promise of love and a happily ever after, after cheating on Bryan he decides to make things right by matching Bryan with Eric and he has since then lived content with the knowledge that at least they are happy together, until the day that Bryan comes into the club and begins kissing a random guy, this puzzles Danny and he is desperate to find out why have things gone so wrong for the seemingly happy couple, it seems life is giving Danny a second chance.
I thoroughly enjoyed these 3 stories. They were an easy read and the characters were likeable, would definitely like to read more from this Author and will recommend to lovers of MM Romance.
Arc received in exchange of an honest opinion.
