The Baller: A Down and Dirty Football Novel by Vi Keeland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A BESTSELLER INDEED!!!!
This book was EPIC, I know it is not a very formal word to describe a book perhaps, but if you want a broader explanation of the word here goes:
According to Merriam-Webster the definition of EPIC is:
1. telling a story about a hero or about exciting events or adventures
2. very great or large and usually difficult or impressive
1: of, relating to, or having the characteristics of an epic
2a : extending beyond the usual or ordinary especially in size or scope
b : heroic
ep·i·cal play \-pi-kəl\ adjective
ep·i·cal·ly play \-pi-k(ə-)lē\ adverb
Well this story and its leads are ALL that.
Brody Easton is indeed EPIC, he is big, he is fast, he is panty-dropping hot, he is one of the best in his field and he has a heart of GOLD. You see as a leading sportsman he has the attention of any girl, he knows he can probably get any woman he wants to sleep with him at any given time and place, however there is only one woman who has completely caught his full attention, but as it goes, she is the only one who doesn't want him; or does she?
Delilah Maddox is a sportscaster, Football is in her blood and she knows the industry inside and out. She has worked hard to achieve recognition for being good at her job and not because of her connections to the sport. The last thing she was expecting that day as she walked into the changing rooms to interview some of the players was coming face to face with mr EPIC himself and his "cough" epic attribute. Brody thought the bold move would land him in Delilah's bed but instead he landed flat on his face after being epically rejected. This only fuels his interest and his determination to getting to know the woman behind the mic.
As the story develops we are gradually seeing these two characters embark on a wild chase of cat and mouse. This is all new territory for Brody who is used to getting his way and past relationships
make both insecure of giving themselves to each other wholeheartedly. Layers start to come off and truths begin to surface and we are rewarded with an addictive plot. But both Delilah and Brody hide so much baggage that in order for them to completely learn to be together they must first learn to let go of their past.
Fast paced, funny, sexy and a brilliantly written story line make The Baller a favourite book amongst Contemporary Romance readers. However anyone in search of an EPIC book should read it NOW!!
