Goodbye Paradise by Sarina Bowen

5 Stars

When I was given the opportunity to read an ARC from Bowen about an older book she'd written with a pseudonym but wanted to re-release with her own name in exchange for an honest review, I threw my name in the hat. There was no way I was going to pass on such an opportunity. I'm mean, it's Sarina Bowen and it's a M/M contemporary romance novel. NO BRAINER.

I couldn't put this book down. Josh and Caleb just took me on the most emotional ride and I'm a sopping mess because of it. Aside from the entire book being amazing, id like to point out straight away how beautifully crafted the themes in this book were. Tough subject matter was handled wonderfully and it was so authentic I could feel every emotion flying through the pages. I was personally affected by one such matter and it was so well written, I felt it in my bones.

Polygamy, rape, homosexuality, cults and so much more was touched upon in GOODBYE PARADISE. And even though those topics are not for the faint of heart, Bowen mass produced empathy, love, kindness, friendship and family so spectacularly, the light outweighed the dark.

Josh and Caleb's love for each other stood the test of time. In their case, love trumped hate and their ability to forgive and adapt and conquer won out over anything else.

The story flowed seamlessly. When I wasn't reading, I was thinking about reading. And the only book that consumed my mind for the last 24 hours was this one.

I'm a Bowen fan for life, and this slice of awesome is exactly why. Thank you for the opportunity to review this book. It was an absolute pleasure.
