The Affiliate is an interesting mix of dystopia, paranormal and historic, well that is how I perceive it. It is set in a time after great wars in this books version of earth and a different structure and heirarchy have been established in order to prevent future uprising.
Linde lays it out and explains the setting with skill. It is woven into the story which keeps it natural. The characters are well developed and likable, even the ones I don't want to like.
As in any kingdom there are lies, deception and romance.
This is Cyrene's story, along with all her wonderfully entertaining supporting characters. Cyrene and her family's life long dream of her becoming a Class 1 Affiliate has happened and it should all be coming up roses, but where would the fun in that be. Catty woman, mysterious happenings, overly bold men, the list goes on.
I enjoyed The Affiliate and looking forward to more of this story.
