My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am speechless.

It has taken me a while to write a review for this book and I do extend an apology to the writer, This book was just special, unforgettable, it is one of those books that leaves you with a sense of contentment. That regardless of the poignant storyline it will forever be a part of you.

Isidore has been hurt. In the most indescribable and unbelievable of ways. He has endured physical and verbal abuse in the hands of not one but several people, and what is worse they are his family. As the son of two Ambassadors, Isidore’s life has always been a struggle. The only person who truly loved him has been taken away from him in a horrific car bombing and it is but a miracle that he still manages to have his mind and heart intact.

Declan is the son also of two Ambassadors. His life although different from Isidore’s, has also been marked by the horrific ordeal of having lost his dad in a terrifying car bomb,(can you see the connection?).

Fate brings them together as they embark on their senior year at school. Isidore finds himself in unchartered territory, he is completely out of his depth, but Declan just can't keep away from him. Their attraction is instantaneous, having shared a tragedy brings them together but it is their souls who binds them as one.
Isidore needs someone to hold him, to love him and to help him see life can be also beautiful, ultimately someone who can scare away his demons, who can slay all his dragons, and Declan is there every step of the way. He is so beautiful, and so patient and just loving, I fell totally in love with him, I can see why Isidore fell so hard for him .

But being together doesn’t come without difficulty or danger, Declan and Isidore are not completely out thus presenting an issue with the school and amongst some of their friends.
Isidore’s dad is vicious, he makes their lives and those who try to help them, literally a living hell. I have never experienced such hatred towards someone through the pages of a book, but that is testament of Cody’s incredible writing and his ability to bring each character to life.

I kept reading and with each paragraph I experienced so many emotions, sadness, joy, elation, worry, sorrow and so much respect and love for Isidore; such a beautiful man, who in spite of what life has thrown at him and in the face of adversity still has an unwavering spirit and a heart of Gold.

Together Declan and Isidore must overcome so many hurdles, and just when you think the story will go one way, Cody surprises us with another twist. I just couldn’t put this book down. Thoroughly emotional, and filled with so much passion, Slaying Isidore’s Dragons is a story that will captivate you and change you forever. It will leave you breathless!

Thank You, Thank You, a thousand thank you’s Cody, for giving the world this magnificent book. I will cherish it forever.
